Ex-Manchester City striker Shaun Goater has urged incoming manager Pep Guardiola to save the club millions of pounds by relying on Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho for next season and not bringing in a new striker.
Iheanacho
has netted 13 goals and made five assists in 32 appearances in all
competitions for the Citizens in his debut first team campaign.
“A
few months ago I used to think [that] we needed to push [Sergio] Aguero
but Kelechi Iheanacho has a frightening record and is excelling in his
role,” Goater told 888sport.
“He
[Iheanacho] also has a good work ethic and that is a key thing Pep
Guardiola will be looking for next season – a work ethic as well as
producing goals.
“In the three-year period he’s expected to be at the club he will win the Champions League and he will also win the league."
Shaun Goater scored 84 times during his spell for City.
